Frequently Asked Questions
Does my business have to be in Sun Valley to join the Chamber of Commerce?
No. Members can be located anywhere. Being a member gives you access to our members — so if you do business or plan on doing business in Sun Valley you may consider gaining that access by joining the chamber. Our membership dues are affordable and the Sun Valley Area Chamber of Commerce provides many services for your business at little to no cost to members. We also take hundreds of calls every year asking for referrals to local business, and we refer them to members of the chamber of commerce only.
I have a Burbank zip-code, but I pay Los Angeles City Property Taxes, why is that?
That is because part of Sun Valley is serviced by the Burbank Post Office. If you are North/West of Cohasset St. then you are actually in Sun Valley — even if you have an address that has a Burbank zip-code. This also means that you have to deal with the City of Los Angeles for services.
The Economy has taken a down-turn and my business is hurting. Why would I join the Chamber of Commerce? Shouldn’t I worry about my own business first?
By all means take care of your business first! But do consider that by being a member you have access to potential customers. Many chamber members do business with other chamber members, and they created those alliances through the chamber of commerce. Do you offer services that other Sun Valley Businesses might need? Many of our members also offer discounts to other members. Perhaps you use some of those services already.
Does the Sun Valley Area Chamber of Commerce act on the behalf of the Sun Valley Residents?
No, not directly. The chamber of commerce acts exclusively on the behalf of our business and organization members. Despite this, most of our members want community input when proposing a new project; we do everything possible to facilitate open communication between the businesses and the residents of Sun Valley. We do have many community members who are members of the chamber of commerce, and their opinions are invaluable to the businesses of Sun Valley.
My business just had a major accomplishment (was written up in the local paper / received an award / etc.) Can I brag to other chamber members?
Absolutely! We love brag about our businesses! We will post this information in our 'News Center" and Chamber Update E-Mail. Keeping in touch and letting us know what is going on is one of the best ways to get the most out of your chamber membership.
How do I get the most out of my chamber membership?
