Leaders Forum features Speaker John Perez
Budget progress and negotiations dominate discussion

California Assembly Speaker John Perez joined VICA for the
latest installment of its Leaders Forum speaker series. Perez discussed recent activities in Sacramento regarding the budget and provided insight on the budget negotiations currently in progress. Perez noted that he and other state
lawmakers are working to make the budget process more
transparent and have held several meetings with residents
across the state. The luncheon was held at The Beverly
Garland Holiday Inn
and presented by City of Hope and Clear Channel Outdoor. Tower General Contractors was the luncheon co-sponsor.

Senator takes questions about controversial legislation

U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer joined VICA members to discuss her current activities in Washington and the difficult reelection campaign she is facing. Boxer addressed healthcare reform, the Recovery Act and changes to the way student loans are administered. She also discussed the many challenges members of Congress face, including a rising federal deficit. U.S. Rep. Brad Sherman also stopped by the event to share his recent activities on Capitol Hill and answer VICA members’ questions. The event was held at Sportsmen’s Lodge Events Center, presented by The Boeing Company and co-sponsored by Management 180° Consulting and ITT Technical Institute.
