Federal Healthcare Reform Workshop

The purpose of the workshop to educate small business owners about the Affordable Care Act (also known as Federal Healthcare Reform and Obamacare), and how the law affects them, how to comply with the new regulations required by the law, what services will be available to small business owners, and how these small business owners can benefit from the law, i.e. tax breaks for providing healthcare to employees. 

Lunch and refreshments will be provided but you must RSVP to ensure there is enough food for everyone.

Join SVACC for a fun filled, informal and equestrian inspired mixer at Special Spirit. Mix and mingle and learn about this local charity that serves physically and mentally disabled youth and adults. This will also be a great opportunity for the Sun Valley business community to meet their equestrian neighbors.

The mixer will take place outdoors on the clean and paved property that overlooks the ranch. For those who wish a tour of the ranch facility will be conducted. (The Main Ranch is located at 9889 Helen Ave.)

You are cordially invited to join Mayor Antonio R. Villaraigosa for the State of the City Address on Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at the Paramount Theater located in the historic Paramount Studios lot.  Please find the official invitation to the State of the City Address attached to this email.

The official program will commence at 5:00 p.m., registration and seating will begin at 3:30pm.  The Paramount Studios lot is located at 5555 Melrose Avenue, Los Angeles 90038, and parking will be available on site.

In order to ensure proper seating arrangements, we would greatly appreciate your RSVP by April 13, 2012.  You can RSVP by responding to this email (StateoftheCity@lacity.org) or via telephone at (213) 922-1012.  This invitation admits one person and is not transferable to other guests.

Welcome Home Party for the Troops

American Legion Post 520  and the Ladies Auxiliary Unit 520 are proud to announce their Welcome Home Party for the Troops  on Saturday  April 14, 2012, from 11 AM to 6 PM.  The event is open to everyone.  Veterans their extended families and friends and members of the community are all invited to a day of fun and entertainment featuring Henry Becker & Team Honky Tonk.  There will be food, carnival games, opportunity drawings, a 50/50 raffle and food.

The theme is "A Hometown Carnival".  This will be a two fold event.  Commander Al Barba and President Kat Haas would like everyone to know the Legion is here and what a wonderful outreach they can provide.  The Legion has many programs that people are not aware of, including scholarship opportunities for families of veterans. There are numerous  youth programs to promote education in our schools. Each year the Ladies Auxiliary sponsors Girls State for Junior Girls in High School. The men of the Legion also support Boys State.  These programs have had many individuals go on to great positions of leadership.  President Clinton went to Boys State.
