A celebration of Anne Finn's life will take place on Saturday, April 24 at 1 p.m. The family is finalizing plans for the L.A. location of this celebration. The location will be posted here in the next few days.

The Increase was in response to the Mayor's proposed goal for LADWP to get at least 20% of its electricity from renewable sources as well as to protect the DWP from having its credit rating decreased. The approximate 0.6 cents per kilowatt/hr is less than the 0.8 cents the Mayor had asked for at the beginning of March. The Council put further limitations on further increases pending on safeguards by the DWP that the money from these hikes will be spent efficiently. If adopted by the DWP the rates will begin to increase on Thursday, April 1, and will continue until July.

Chamber Friends,

Here are a number of summaries of the final health care package (the Senate’s Christmas Eve bill as modified by the House reconciliation bill). All are good, though presented differently. We are not sending these as legal advice to anyone. We send them as aides to you and your members, since there is very little doubt now that all of these provisions will become law.

Just one example of things your members should know: If they offer dependent coverage, they will have to cover dependent children up to age 26 by October 1 of this year.

There’s still an awful lot to sort through on this, and a U.S. Chamber summary may be available shortly. For now, we hope these help.

Best always,

Dick Castner
